Tourists from various countries and states graced the event, expressing appreciation for the festival's offerings

Digital Desk: The Meghalaya Strawberry Festival commenced today across three districts of Meghalaya, with the inaugural event taking place at Soliya Village in the Ri Bhoi District. Organized through a joint effort by the Department of Tourism and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the festival aims to spotlight the delectable strawberries native to the region, while also promoting agro-tourism and local businesses, and encouraging more farmers to engage in strawberry cultivation.

The festival at Soliya Village featured an array of attractions, including strawberry picking, wine tasting, jam making, cycling treks to the strawberry farms, and workshops on wine-making and culinary arts such as baking with strawberries. Attendees were treated to live music and cultural performances, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere.

Tourists from various countries and states graced the event, expressing appreciation for the festival's offerings.

Scheduled as a two-day affair on April 12th and 13th, 2024, the Strawberry Festival spans across the picturesque strawberry fields in the villages of Syntung and Nohron in East Khasi Hills, Sohliya in Ri-Bhoi, and Darechikgre in West Garo Hills. Noteworthy is the extensive strawberry plantation efforts undertaken by the Directorate of Horticulture under both central and state initiatives.
