Digital Desk: In an ongoing war against drugs, Assam police arrested a man, his wife, and two others in an operation against fake Indian currency notes in Nagaon, officials informed on Saturday.

As per initial reports, the incident was reported from Simaluguri village near Kampur which falls under Kachua Police Station.

Officials conducted a raid based on intelligence about a counterfeit money note printing and distribution ring operating in the area when the couple and two other people were arrested.

The four accused had several wads of cash, probably counterfeit currency notes, and counterfeit currency manufacturing equipment seized from them during the raid, stated police officials.

As per the officials' report, the detained husband and wife are originally from the neighboring state of Nagaland. The police have not yet disclosed the names of any of the accused.

They added that apart from the couple, the raiding team had taken two other individuals from the scene, and all of them are being held at the moment for questioning in connection with the matter.

Further details regarding the seizure are awaited.
