Digital Desk: Lata Mangeshkar’s nephew Adinath Mangeshkar collected the ashes of the legendry singer from Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Monday, where the iconic singer was cremated with full state honours yesterday. Aditnath was spotted carrying a red handkerchief that contained her ashes. According to the Hindu rituals, the ashes of the deceased are collected in an earthen pot and thrown into the sacred river. Several celebrities and politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attended the cremation of the legendary singer. Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday, at the age of 92, after multiple organ failures. On January 8, the singer was hospitalized at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after being diagnosed with covid-19 and pneumonia. The Indian government has declared two days of national mourning, during which the flag will be flown at half-mast across the country.
