Their current situation in Cotton University could be a setback after winning elections with a landslide last year...

Digital Desk: In a recent development it has come to light that this year, there won't be any Cotton University Students' Union (CUSU) candidates supported by the AASU since the organization's historic boys' hostel Rajnikanta Bordoloi Boys' Hostel (RKB) might choose to contest as "independent."

The leadership of the AASU and its representatives from Cotton University are reportedly dealing with certain "internal" problems that have caused a factional split, according to university sources.

Meanwhile, as a result, RKB boarders might choose to contest independently.

The report comes amidst AASU's successful run in Assam's
student politics. Their current situation in Cotton University could be a setback after winning elections with a landslide last year and making impressive gains at Gauhati University and other colleges.

Furthermore, the RKB, SNBC, MNDP, SMH CM, and SRB hostels are also contesting the elections.
