 Digital Desk: A joint team of the Border Security Force or BSF and Assam Police in Karimganj district today confiscated heroin worth over Rs 45 crore from a truck, according to a police officer.

In the early hours of Tuesday, a truck carrying heroin that was traveling from Mizoram to Tripura via Karimganj was stopped near the New Karimganj Railway Station, according to him.

Based on specific information, members of the BSF and Karimganj Police stopped the vehicle and found heroin concealed in 764 soap cases in a hidden compartment in the driver's cabin, the official said. The heroin was packaged in the soap cases.

He stated that the heroin weighs about 9.47 kilograms and is worth about Rs 47.4 crore.

The truck has been detained, and questions are being asked to elicit more information.
