Lahore: At least two killed, injuring 59 people in an explosion during a Muharram procession in Central Pakistan’s province.


The incident took place in Bahawalnagar when a Shia procession was heading to an Imambargah as a part of the annual Ashura ceremony.


As per the list issued by the Punjab government stated Maheen Zahr (7) and Salman Nazir (20) lost their lives. Moreover, the condition of three of the injured persons was critical.


Moreover, the report said, “During the explosion the procession comprises of 500 men, women and children. It is assumed to be a terrorist activity.”


The report added that most of the injured are young men.


The accused has been arrested allegedly for throwing a hand grenade at the mourners in the procession, which was passing near a mosque in Bahawalnagar.
