PM Modi and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, met after the program's initial session.

Digital Desk: During the two-day conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of various High Courts in the national capital on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the presence of Chief Justice of India NV Ramana.

PM Modi and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, met after the program's initial session. It was a casual gathering, and the conversation was generic in nature, as they discussed the season and cuisine. The Prime Minister also gave Mamata Banerjee 'advice' regarding red chilli.

Mamata Banerjee had previously requested that the Chief Justice fill the pending vacancies at the high court and subordinate court levels as soon as possible. Banerjee met PM Modi last year after winning the Bengal elections and again in November with requests for her state.

Meanwhile, the joint meeting provided an opportunity for the executive and judiciary to work together to develop a framework for delivering justice simply and conveniently and debate the required actions to address the judicial system's issues, according to the PMO.

On CJI Raman's proposal, the Chief Justices' Conference and the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices are being conducted after a six-year hiatus.
