PM Modi to hold bilateral talks with Biden and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
He will attend the Quad summit in Tokyo on May 24 with US President Joe Biden and the prime ministers of Australia and Japan. PM Modi will meet with at least 36 Japanese CEOs and hundreds of members of the Indian diaspora.
Reports further claimed that the prime minister would spend one night in Tokyo and two nights on the plane.
During the meeting, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Biden and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He will also meet with his Australian counterpart in a bilateral meeting.
Meanwhile, announcing PM Modi's participation in the summit, the Ministry of External Affairs had said, "At the invitation of Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the third Quad Leaders' Summit in Tokyo on May 24, 2022, along with President Joseph R Biden Jr. of the US and the Prime Minister of Australia."
According to the MEA, the upcoming Quad summit will allow leaders to discuss developments in the Indo-Pacific region and current global issues of mutual concern.
The leaders will assess the progress of Quad initiatives and working groups, identify new areas of collaboration, and provide strategic guidance and a vision for future collaboration," the statement added.
