Digital Desk: The police detained the main suspect three days after the bodies of two schoolchildren who went missing on August 22 were discovered in the North 24 Parganas region.

Satyendra Chowdhury, the main suspect, was apprehended close to the Howrah train station. He is 30 years old.

An interstate search for Chowdhury was launched after numerous teams from the CID and the Bidhannagar detective division were dispatched to various regions of the nation.

Atanu Dey (16) and Abhishek Naskar (15) were two cousins from Baguiati who were killed on August 22 and then their bodies were thrown in two different locations in a canal in Bashirhat, North 24 Pargana. It was allegedly an attempt to steal Rs 50,000 while passing off a motorbike for sale.

 

In the interim, Satyendra Chowdhury is suspected of placing a ransom call. The teenagers' families had protested at the police station in Baguiati. However, the family argued that the police did not behave as they should have.

 

West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, publicly criticized the Bidhan Nagar police commissioner for being late at a meeting in the state capital.

After the bodies of two students were discovered, there was a great outcry among the population and the administration. When the family expressed worries about the police's role in the case, the BJP made the decision to bring up this subject.

When the problem was brought up by opposition parties to enhance political pressure, the state administration took action.
