Chandigarh: Punjab’s State Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla congratulated the Indian Men’s hockey players for winning an Olympic medal after 41 years and making the country proud and said that he will name the schools and roads in their names as a small gesture to appreciate them.

In an official statement, Mr. Singla has said that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has approved the proposal and the officials have been directed to start the process at the earliest.
He also mentioned that the residence and schools of the area of the respective Olympic medalists will be named after them for the inspiration of the youth.


Mr. Singla also mentioned that Punjab has sent 20 sportspersons to the Olympics this year.
11 players are from Punjab in the Indian Men’s Hockey team squad that includes captain Manpreet Singh and his deputy Harmanpreet Singh.
