Digital Desk: Mohammed Shami emerged as the hero of India's triumph over New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final on Wednesday. The 33-year-old fast bowler etched his name in history by claiming seven wickets, delivering the best-ever individual performance by an Indian bowler in the 50-over World Cup.

The cricketing world is buzzing with excitement as fans and pundits alike shower Shami with congratulations for his remarkable feat. However, the story takes an intriguing turn as a social media user, Dan Mateo, claims to have dreamt of Shami's seven-wicket haul a day before the semi-final clash. Mateo shared his premonition on X on November 14, stating, "Saw a dream where Shami took 7 wickets in the semi-final."

Initially, the post garnered moderate attention, but it exploded in popularity following India's victory, accumulating 1.7 million views and sparking a wave of reactions from cricket enthusiasts. Some users, half in jest, urged Mateo to dream up a favorable script for the upcoming final on November 19, while others inquired if he could foresee broader events, even asking about the next U.S. President.

In a follow-up tweet, Mateo expressed his astonishment at the uncanny alignment of his dream with Shami's real-world performance.

Shami's seven-wicket haul for 57 runs off 9.5 overs at an economy rate of 5.79 not only secured India's place in the World Cup final but also earned him a place in the record books. His figures rank as the fifth-best in World Cup history, with Australia's Glenn McGrath's 7/15 against Namibia in 2003 holding the top spot. Moreover, Shami became the seventh bowler to achieve the milestone of 50 World Cup wickets, reaching the feat in just 17 innings, surpassing Mitchell Starc's previous record of 19 innings. The pace veteran's stellar performance has undoubtedly etched his name in cricketing folklore.
