The Cabinet approved an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 50 lakh to recognise Chingtham Anand Kumar's contribution and to commemorate his exceptional duty in a very sensitive area.

Digital Desk: Manipur police commandos were sent to Moreh as backup following the shooting death of a police officer who was attacked by insurgents.

Three people have reportedly been injured at Sinam village. 

This is in response to orders from the state cabinet to begin a coordinated operation in Moreh and its surrounding areas to apprehend individuals accountable for the death of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Chingtham Anand Kumar.

At the Eastern Shine School, Chingtham Anand Kumar, MPS, of Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai, Imphal, was killed while supervising the clearing of the area in preparation for the construction of a helipad. He was killed in the line of duty by armed Kuki insurgents firing at random. The Cabinet released a statement expressing how very wrong this barbaric conduct is.

The Cabinet approved an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 50 lakh to recognise Chingtham Anand Kumar's contribution and to commemorate his exceptional duty in a very sensitive area. In addition, the government promised to find the martyr's grieving family a suitable job.

In order to apprehend people responsible for this horrible act, the Cabinet has ordered the initiation of a coordinated operation in Moreh and its surrounding areas. To further the attempts, more state forces have been sent from Imphal, and these operations have already started.
