Digital Desk: Ashok Rabha, Senior Assistant in the Sub Divisional Agricultural Officer's office in Dudhnoi, under the Goalpara district, was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Thursday after he accepted a bribe from the complainant regarding matters related to land reclassification.

The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, previously received a complaint saying that Ashok Rabha had requested Rs. 5,000 as a bribe for problems with land reclassification from the complainant.

However, the complaint sought this Directorate to take the appropriate legal action against the aforementioned public servant because they were unwilling to pay the bribe.

As a result, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, set up a trap in the Sub Divisional Agricultural Officer's office in Dudhnoi, District of Goalpara, today, Thursday.

As soon as Ashok Rabha took Rs. 2,000 as part of the bribe that the complainant in the office wanted, he was exposed in front of impartial witnesses.

The team of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, has arrested the accused public official after determining that there is adequate evidence against him.

In this regard, a case has been filed under section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) at the ACB Police Station on November 16, 2023, under ACB P.S. Case No. 98/2023.

The required legal follow-up is underway.
