Digital Desk: Last Thursday, the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden welcomed a male Giraffe calf. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news on the 'X' platform, expressing his joy over the calf's birth.

CM Sarma shared his excitement over the addition in a tweet and requested name choices for the newborn, "Happy to share that the Assam State Zoo has been blessed with a cute baby Giraffe just three days ago. Any suggestions for naming the newborn?” 


The zoo currently houses three Giraffes. In the past, a male giraffe named 'Vijay' was introduced to the zoo in 2019, followed by a female giraffe named 'Vijaya' in 2022.
