New Delhi: Three Indian athletes Rohit Chamoli (48kg), Ankush (66kg), and Gaurav Saini (70kg), have advanced into the semifinals of the ASBC Youth and Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai.

All of the Indian athletes assured at least a bronze medal for the nation. Three other Indian boxers additionally recorded triumphs on the opening day of the competition.

Rohit Chamoli surpassed Alhassan Qadous Sriya 5-0. Ankush blanked Bader Shehab from Kuwait 5-0. Haryana’s Gaurav set up a dominating play against Kuwaiti boxer Yaqoub Saadallah before declaring the winner.

The 2021 World Youth Championships bronze medallist Bishwamitra Chongtham will commence his marketing campaign within the prestigious continental event. As a result, six youth Indian boxers will probably be observed in action on the next day. 

The open-ended Asian Championships will present the much-needed ambitious competition to the promising young stars at the Asian level following a break of nearly two years lost due to pandemics. 

The competition has been observing a breathtaking play in the presence of contenders from active boxing countries like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The gold medalists within the youth age category will recieve a prize amount of USD 6,000. On the other hand, silver and bronze medalists will get USD 3,000 and USD 1,500, respectively.
