Digital Desk: US President Donald Trump reportedly opposed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei amid escalating tensions and ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Iran.
According to a senior US official who spoke to CNN, Israeli forces had a clear opportunity to target Khamenei during the attack.
The official also mentioned that high-level communication between US and Israeli officials has been ongoing since Israel launched a massive attack aimed at disrupting Iran's nuclear program.
Despite the opportunity to eliminate Iran's top leader, Trump dismissed the plan, instructing Israeli officials to drop the plan.
A spokesperson of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Sunday that reports claiming Trump rejected an Israeli plan are 'fake'.
Speaking to CNN, Trump clarified that the United States is not currently involved in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
However, he mentioned that the US might consider involvement, but for now, they remain uninvolved.
