Digital Desk: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya is scheduled to inaugurate the state's first medical college on his one-day visit to Nagaland. He will inaugurate the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) in Phreibagei, Kohima on Saturday.

Mandaviya will also unveil a monolith to commemorate the occasion. The National Medical Commission has permitted the college to admit 100 students for the academic session of 2023-2024.

There are 15 seats allocated to the All India Quota and 85 seats reserved for Nagaland citizens. On April 25, 2023, NIMSR, earlier known as Kohima Medical College, received the Letter of Permission (LoP) for 100 MBBS seats from the National Medical Commission. The college is affiliated with Kohima's Nagaland University.
