Union Home Minister Amit Shah will stand in for PM Modi, although his campaigning schedule has yet to be determined...

Digital Desk: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his planned campaign trip to Mamit in poll-bound Mizoram on October 30, Union Home Minister Amit Shah would step in.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will stand in for PM Modi, although his campaigning schedule has yet to be determined, according to state BJP media chairman Johny Lalthanpuia. Lalthanpuia, on the other hand, gave no reason for Modi's cancellation.

Nitin Gadkari, another top BJP politician and government minister, is expected to campaign in the northeastern state on Monday for the November 7 assembly elections, according to Lalthanpuia.

Shah plans to visit Mamit and the southern section of the state, he remarked. The BJP is targeting linguistic minorities in the state's south, including the Chakma, Bru, Mara, and Lai communities.

The saffron party, which contested 39 seats in the last assembly elections in 2018, has nominated 23 candidates this time.

BJP President JP Nadda released the party's platform on Friday, promising 33% reservation for women in government positions and resolving the long-standing border dispute with Assam, among other initiatives.
