Guwahati Traffic Police on Saturday issued a notice putting specific limits on vehicle movement in order to protect public safety ahead of the visit of Vice President.

Digital Desk: Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar will attend a special session at Cotton University on Monday, October 30. The Vice President will engage in a one-hour interactive session with the university's faculty, students, and staff that same day.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, University Chancellor and Governor of Assam Gulab Chand Kataria, and Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu will be present on this special day.

Several notable individuals from various spheres of the state's life will also be present at the event.

In the meantime, Guwahati Traffic Police on Saturday issued a notice putting specific limits on vehicle movement in order to protect public safety ahead of the visit of India's Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The press statement states that the following limitations on vehicle movement have been imposed:

• On October 30, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the operation of commercial goods-carrying vehicles with four wheels and above will be prohibited on NH-27 and NH-17, which pass through Guwahati City.

• On October 30, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., commercial goods carrying vehicles with three wheels or more are not permitted to drive on AT Road, DG Road, MG Road, Tyabullah Road, GNB Road, B. Barooah Road, or GS Road.

The notice reads, “To ensure safety of public, especially vulnerable road users like children, students, women, semior citizens and differently abled persons on the road and to give free passage to the emergency vehicles like Ambulances, Fire tenders etc, the following restrictions on the movement of vehicles shall be imposed during the visit of Hon’ble Vice President of India to Guwahati on 30th October, 2023.”
