He is set to play Delhi’s match against Railways beginning 30th January...

Digital Desk: Indian Cricketer, Virat Kohli, a talented member of the Indian cricket team,  has declared himself available for Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy tie against Railways, starting from 30th January, says DDCA. Kohli last played in the Ranji Trophy in November 2012 and he made 14 and 42 against Uttar Pradesh.

The 36-year-old, however, will miss Delhi’s match against Saurashtra starting from January 23. It comes just in time as the BCCI has recently introduced a new rule that international players must play Domestic cricket to be considered for the national team selection and receiving a central contract. It comes after India was whitewashed 3-1 to Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, prompting BCCI to call for more exposure of prominent cricketers in domestic cricket.

Kohli's return should help Delhi in their next games as of now they are on fourth place IN  their group with one win, one loss and three draws for 14 points. Currently, in first-class cricket, Virat Kohli has accumulated 11,479 runs in 155 matches reaping 37 centuries and 39 fifties, with an average of 48.23.

However, Kohli has had a poor run in recent games even though he has been an amazing cricket player. Its knocks were a poor 417 runs in 10 Tests at an average of 24.52 and a solitary hundred. Altogether, he made 655 runs in 32 innings average 21.83 in all formats. The ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle also saw Kohli was struggling, where he managed to score only 751 runs at an average of 32.65.

With this domestic stint, Kohli now aims to rediscover his form and help Delhi climb higher in the Ranji standings.
