According to sources, Parida is believed to have hanged himself on Sunday night because he was unable to handle the loss and was no longer able to play the game.

Digital Desk: A 26-year-old youth allegedly died by suicide after losing Rs 2 lakh to the online game PUBG in Bhuasini village under the Anantapur outpost of Balikuda police station.

The deceased, identified as Debendra Parida, was reportedly used to work as a driver.

However, the lure of money drove him to play and develop a PUBG addiction. He played the game for some time, losing Rs 2 lakh. He and his father got into a fight over it, and his father warned him to stay away from the game.

According to sources, Parida is believed to have hanged himself on Sunday night because he was unable to handle the loss and was no longer able to play the game.

When his family moved him to a nearby burial ground for cremation in the early hours of Monday, local police learned of the situation and rushed to the scene to take possession of the body. Notably, the body has been sent for postmortem to the district headquarters hospital in Jagatsinghpur.

The youth was addicted to the game, Anirudha Nayak, the officer in charge of the Anantapur outpost, said. According to preliminary research, Parida lost Rs 2 lakh while playing PUBG, for which his parents reprimanded him. "Frustrated, he took the drastic step," Nayak added.

It may be mentioned that an unnatural death case has been filed in the matter.
