Digital Desk: The All-India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to halt the screening of the Prabhas-led Adipurush and immediately order a ban on the film's screening in theatres and on OTT platforms in the future. The cinema worker's body also filed an FIR against Adipurush director Om Raut, writer Manoj Muntashir, and the producers.
The body said in a letter accessed by ANI, "All Indian Cine Workers Association demands a ban on screening the movie Adipurush. This movie’s screenplay and dialogue clearly defaming the image of Lord Rama and Lord Hanumana. Adipurush movie is hurting religious sentiments of Hindus and Sanatan Dharma."
The body stated that Lord Rama is a God for everyone in India, irrespective of religion. It added that the film presents Lord Rama and the demon king Ravana as characters right out of a video game and that the dialogues have hurt every Indian in the country as well as around the world.

"We need an FIR against the director (Om Raut), writer (Manoj Muntashir), and the producers of the movie who have hurt the Hindu sentiments and saved the image of our Bhagwan Shri Ram, Maa Sita, and Ramsevak Bhagwan Hanuman". The association said towards the end of the letter that Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan should not have been a part of this project," the letter added.
The development comes after protesters marched to the streets in Ayodhya to demand that the film's screening be banned. A Hindu outfit held a protest against the film outside a Mathura theatre. Film buffs also slammed the film for its crass dialogue, lousy visual effects, and wrong portrayals of the characters from the revered Hindu epic Ramayana.
Meanwhile, one of Adipurush T-Series' producers claims that the film has earned Rs 375 crore at the global box office in just four days. Adipurush's domestic collections, on the other hand, took a significant hit on Monday, with the film earning only around Rs 20 in day 5 collecting. Its overall earnings as of Monday were around Rs 241.10 crore.
