Badhaai Do: Small town girl Chum Darang making an entry into the silver screen of Bollywood
Digital Desk: Meet Chum Darang, a 29-year-old Arunachal Pradesh actress who is ecstatic about making her Bollywood debut in Junglee Productions' 'Badhaai Do' (Congratulations), which was released this Friday.

Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar will appear alongside the actress from Pasighat in the East Siang district.

Chum, a resident of Mirsam Village near Pasighat, has won numerous beauty pageants, including Miss AAPSU 2010.

She was a finalist in the North East Diva 2014 competition and was also crowned Miss Tiara India International in 2017.

"I wanted to act but I thought people would laugh if I told them about this," says Chum

Chum Darang, in addition to acting, owns and operates the 'Cafe Chu' in Pasighat.

'Badhaai Do,' starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, is due to hit theatres on Friday.

'Badhaai Do' is an unusual storey in that it depicts the journey of a lesbian woman and a gay guy who married to placate their parents.

In the film, Chum will play Bhumi Pednekar's love interest.

Though Chum is ecstatic about the opportunity, she claims it was never her intention to work in Bollywood.

She had intended to open a cafe in her hometown, but she changed her mind and decided to pursue acting instead.

The actress stated that her friends and relatives back home are as enthusiastic about the film as she is.

"Because there are no theatres in my hometown, they are planning to go to Assam and travel for three hours to see me on the big screen," she explained.

"I have learned to be hardworking from Bhumi and Rajkummar," Chum said.

Sharing the screen with actors like Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, who have received critical acclaim for the characters they perform, has been both exhilarating and educational for Chum.

"They're both very down to earth and put in a lot of effort. I know they're experienced and know a lot, yet they sat down throughout the shoot, listened to the director, and worked properly. Another thing I picked up from them was their respect for the other actors on set "she stated
