Digital Desk: Bhuban Badyakar, the West Bengal peanut seller who sung the viral Bengali song 'Kacha Badam,' was killed in a vehicle accident on Monday, February 28. The event occurred as he was learning how to drive his just acquired secondhand car. The viral singer was sent to a high specialised hospital after injuring his chest.
Bhuban's song Kacha Badam has become the year's most popular song, with everyone caught to the catchy music and lyrics and creating Instagram Reels. He was most recently seen dancing to his own tune in an Instagram Reel posted by actor Neel Bhattacharya. In an Instagram video, Bhuban Badyakar is seen dancing to the song with a group of people executing the iconic hook moves.
"With the Man Himself who sang this song. Support This Gem… Happy to meet him," the caption of the video said.
Last week, Bhuban was seen performing live in Kolkata's Somewhere Else bar on Park Street. Badyakar looked out of place in a glitzy jacket and a new rockstar avatar.
Badyakar, a native of West Bengal's Birbhum district's Kuraljuri village, became an overnight fame after a YouTube channel named 'Ektara' caught a video of him performing the 'Kacha Badam (raw peanuts)' song. Over the course of two months, the film has received more than 21 million views.
