Digital Desk: Indian music composer AR Rahman has sent a legal notice to the Association of Surgeons of India, which has accused him of fraud. He sought compensation for Rs. 10 crore.
The Surgeons Association filed a complaint against music composer AR Rahman with the Chennai Police Commissioner's office on September 27. They decided to organise an annual programme on behalf of the Society of Surgeons in 2018, and music composer AR Rahman prepared a musical programme for it.
Ra 29.5 lakh was given as a down payment for this. However, the performance was cancelled since the Tamil Nadu government did not grant authorization for the programme at the time.
Reportedly, when the surgeons' association requested the advance payment, AR Rahman's team issued them a cheque. Senthil, an executive of the Surgeons Association, filed a complaint after the cheque bounced. Action was requested against AR Rahman and his secretary.
Now, a notice has been sent from the side of music composer AR Rahman, demanding compensation from the Surgeons Association's management. This is because their contract stipulated that the advance fee would not be repaid if the event was cancelled.
He further claimed that the complaint was filed to smear his reputation. It has been informed that if an apology is not delivered within 15 days, a ten crore rupee settlement will be demanded.
Similar to this, Rahman's Marakuma Nenjam event in Chennai last month drew criticism from his followers due to poor planning by the organisers. There was a stampede-like scene at the performance, with several ladies sharing experiences of molestation as well.
The tragic circumstances that occurred during the event. He apologised on social media, saying in a video, "We take responsibility for everything." Please do not target A R Rahman, who has nothing to do with the event's organisation," clarified ACTC Events Founder and CEO Hemanth, who organised the AR Rahman concert.
