Digital Desk: Singer Papon has turned into a filmmaker and is currently working simultaneously on two projects in Northeast India.
Papon has been working on two films for the past four years: 'The Land of the Sacred Beats' and 'The Mystical Brahmaputra - A Musical Story.'
Regarding the movies, Papon said: "My love for India, especially the Northeast, is well known to all. I believe it is my responsibility to introduce the Northeast to the rest of the world."
"The experience of making films like these is life-changing. We have been travelling for years for research and shooting. I hope that by making this video, we can not only promote tourism and culture but also its beautiful stories."
As Assam's Cultural Ambassador, he was invited to the famous Cannes Film Festival. The teasers for Papon's productions were unveiled at the India Pavilion at the March du Film to celebrate cinemas rooted in Assam.
The films are produced by Papon and directed by Parasher Baruah. The duo has travelled the length and breadth of the Northeast to document its diversity, livelihood, crafts, arts, and stories.
