Mumbai: Veteran actor Arvind Trivedi, best known for his role as Ravana in Ramanand Sagar’s mythological series ‘Ramayan’, passed away at 82, informed Trivedi’s nephew.
Reportedly, the actor was suffering from age-related illnesses and died Tuesday night following a heart attack.
The actor’s nephew Kaustubh Trivedi in an interview with ETimes, said, “he was not keeping well for quite some time, but on Tuesday night he suffered a heart attack leading to multiorgan failure.”

The veteran actor was cremated at the Dahanukarwadi cremation ground in the Kandivali area on Wednesday.
Arvind Trivedi, after gaining popularity with Ramayana, also featured in Doordarshan’s Vikram Aur Betal.
Moreover, he featured in Gujarati films including Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya (1998), Kunwarbai Nu Mamerun (1974) and Santu Rangili (1976). He also did a few Hindi films like Jangal Mein Mangal (1972) and Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973) among others. He did almost 300 films in his career.
He was a former MP and was elected for Lok Sabha in 1991 from the Sabarkantha seat. He served as a Parliamentarian till 1996.
Arvind was the acting chairman of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) from 2002 to 2003.
