Digital Desk: Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Yashoda will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from December 9, the streaming platform announced on Tuesday. In a press release, the Amazon streaming platform said that the Telugu film will also be available to subscribers with dubs in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The survival thriller, directed by Hareesh Narayan and K Hari Shankar, starred Samantha in the titular character of Yashoda, a woman who agrees to join a surrogate program in order to find her missing sister. When information about the high-end surrogate facility comes to light, things begin to go sideways.
The film was released in theatres on November 11 to mixed reviews.
"When Yashoda was written, we knew that the audience would find this thrilling adventure worth watching. Samantha's performance and the incredible work done by the team have all paid off well. We are extremely thrilled with the response that the film has gotten across the country and cannot wait for the response of the global audience," Narayan said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Shankar hailed Yashoda as a rare gem in the Indian science fiction genre.
"Such stories from the south Indian film business are performing wonders across India, which is a source of great pride for the team. We are grateful to Prime Video for giving us the chance to showcase this movie on a global stage," he added.
Yashoda also stars Unni Mukundan, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj and Murali Sharma.
