    Active covid cases in the nation climb to 1,15,212; 28 deaths in last 24 hours

    In the last 24 hours, there has been an increase of 737 cases in the covid-19 active caseload.


    Digital Desk: India recorded 16,159 new coronavirus infections, bringing the country's total covid-19 cases to 4,35,47,809, while the number of active cases climbed to 1,15,212. The data updated at 8 am by the Union Health Ministry showed that there were 28 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 5,25,270. 


    The government reported that the national covid-19 recovery rate was 98.53 per cent, while the active cases comprise 0.26 per cent of all infections. 


    In the last 24 hours, there has been an increase of 737 cases in the covid-19 active caseload. As per the ministry, the weekly positivity rate was 3.84 per cent, and the daily positivity rate was 3.56 per cent. 


    The total number of patients who recovered from the illness has increased to 4,29,07,327, while the case fatality rate is at 1.21 per cent. As per the ministry, so far, 198.20 crore doses of vaccine have been administered in the country as part of the statewide covid-19 vaccination drive.


    India's covid-19 tally reached 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It exceeded the 60 lakh threshold on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and 1 crore on December 19.


    Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. On January 25 of this year, the four-crore threshold was crossed.
