Officials stated on that businesses, schools, and restaurants in Xi'an, which has a population of 13 million, will close for one week.
The ancient city of Xi'an endured a month-long lockdown in the later part of last year. Since Saturday, 18 cases have been reported in the city. According to an official statement, the infections are brought on by the rapidly increasing Omicron variant, which is already a dominant strain in the US and UK.
The city official, Zhang Xuedong, stated during a press conference that Xi'an will impose "seven-day interim control measures." " As much as possible, the steps would "enable society to settle down, restrict movement... and cut the chance of cross-infection," he said.
