    Digital Desk: India recorded 17,092 new covid cases in the last 24 hours, according to data released on Saturday by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 


    On Friday, the nation reported 17,070 new covid-19 cases, with a positive rate of 3.40 percent, while the daily positivity rate increased to 4.14 percent. 


    With this, there are currently 1,09,568 active cases in the nation.


    In the past 24 hours, 14,684 covid patients have made full recoveries, bringing the overall number of recoveries from the disease since the start of the pandemic to 4,28,51,590. The rate of recovery is 98.54%.


    The Ministry reports that 29 patients died from the infection during this period. The death toll increased to 5,25,168.


    On the last day, 4,12,570 samples were tested. So far, 86.32 crore tests have been conducted in the nation.


    The weekly positive rate is 3.56 percent.


    In the past 24 hours, 9,09,776 COVID shots have been given as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign. A total of 1,97,84,801,015 vaccination shots have been administered so far.


    The Union Government will purchase and provide (free of charge) to States and UTs 75% of the vaccines produced by the nation's vaccine manufacturers as part of the new phase of the universalization of the covid vaccination drive.


    The Health Ministry of India on June 9 urged States and Union Territories not to let their guard down and strictly uphold suitable covid behaviour in light of the recent spike in covid-19 cases reported nationwide.


    In a letter to the States/UTs, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan urged them to intensify RT-PCR testing, monitoring, clinical care, immunization, and covid-19 protocols and to adopt early preventive measures.
