Pakoda, Samosa, Fried Chicken: Key Culprits of Diabetes

High AGEs food contains harmful compounds that are present in food items that are cooked at a high temperature, for instance, fried chicken, pakoda, samosa, and every other deep-fried item.

Digital Desk:  Diabetes is a widespread disease and India ranks second on the list of countries for this global epidemic. A  study conducted by the Indian Medical Council of Research and Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, Chennai highlights that food with high AGEs (Advanced Glycation End products )  should be highly avoided because that causes severe health problems including diabetes.

High AGEs food contains harmful compounds that are present in food items that are cooked at a high temperature, for instance, fried chicken, pakoda, samosa, and every other deep-fried item. These harmful substances lead to inflammation, insulin resistance, and other health issues hence resulting in diseases like diabetes and other heart diseases.

The researchers released a list of foods that were high AGEs food items, are as follows -
    1. Packaged food - Mayonnaise, Ketchup, ready-made food
    2. Baked Items - Cake, cookies, etc.
    3. Fried Foods - Pakodas, Samosa, Fried Chickem, etc.
    4. Roasted Nuts - Peanuts, Walnuts, etc.

Researchers believe that foods low in AGE may not be harmful, but high-AGE foods could be concerning.
