Assam: Central Hilal Committee Sets Fitrah Amount for Ramadan

Before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, the committee urged all Muslim residents to give this amount.

Digital Desk: The Central Hilal Committee of Assam announced that this year's Fitrah for the Ramadan fast is set at 1,633 grams of wheat flour, based on market value, which is equivalent to 65.00 rupees, in a statement released by its President, Maulana Sheikh Fakhruddin Ahmed Kasimi, and General Secretary, Alhaj Imdad Hussain.

Before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, the committee urged all Muslim residents to give this amount.

Fitrah's primary goal is to give individuals who fasted the opportunity to make up for their mistakes made during the fasting month, thus purifying their Ramadan fast.

This year, on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in the evening, the first sighting of the crescent Moon marks the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

The first crescent Moon sighting on the last night of the eighth month (Sha'ban) defines the precise start and end times of the month of Ramadan. In particular, it is believed that Ramadan starts on the first observance of the crescent Moon over Mecca, Saudi Arabia, or on a date set by astronomical calculation. As a result, the start and end dates are subject to change and may differ by one day.
