    Mash, a Russian Telegram channel, reported that Yankina called her ex-husband before jumping out the window and dying.

    Digital Desk: Marina Yankina, 58, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Western Military District's financial support department, was discovered dead outside a building in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday, according to independent Russian media outlet Meduza.

    According to the Russian news outlet Fontanka, Yankina's death is being investigated as a possible suicide.

    Mash, a Russian Telegram channel, reported that Yankina called her ex-husband before jumping out the window and dying.

    Yankina previously worked for the Russian Federal Tax Service before joining the Western Military District.

    Yankina's death follows the deaths of several Russian officials in unusual or unexplained circumstances since Putin launched his unprovoked war on Ukraine nearly a year ago.

    Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, mentioned this in a tweet about Yankina's death on Thursday.

    Recently, fired Russian Interior Ministry Major General Vladimir Makarov was discovered dead this week in an apparent suicide, according to The Moscow Times.

    Pavel Antov, a Putin critic and sausage tycoon, died in December after falling out of a window at a hotel in India. Ravil Maganov, a 67-year-old Russian energy oligarch, died in September after falling from a hospital window.
