    Air Force Aircraft Crashes in the Philippines, 17 people reported dead

    Manila: A Philippine air force C-130 aircraft carrying troops crashed in Southern province on Sunday after missing the runway.  





    At least 17 people have died and 40 taken to hospital the Philippine Defense Minister said.





    The Air force in a statement said, “The aircraft transporting armed forces from the southern Cagayan de Oro City, crashed after it missed a runway while attempting a landing on the island of Jolo.”





    According to the AFP news agency the aircraft has been carrying 85 people, including the army chief.





    However, a Reuters report said quoting Defence Minister Delfin Lorenzana said that as many as 92 people- including three pilots and five other crew members may have been on the military plane.
