Another 4.7 magnitude earthquake strikes Turkey week after deadly temblor

A week after one of the most destructive earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria, additional survivors were pulled from the rubble on Sunday.

Digital Desk: Nearly a week after a deadly earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 devastated Turkey and Syria, another 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey on Sunday. One of the worst-hit cities and the epicentre was close to Kahramanmara in the south.

"24 km SSE of Kahramanmaras, Turkey, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake. Location: 37.390°N 37.048°E; Depth: 15.7; Time: 00:03; "According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

A week after one of the most destructive earthquakes hit Turkey and Syria, additional survivors were pulled from the rubble on Sunday. The Turkish government has started legal actions to the building collapses while also seeking to maintain stability in the impacted area.

The number of casualties from Monday's earthquake and its accompanying aftershocks in Turkey and Syria has already surpassed 34,000 and is anticipated to rise further as the possibility of finding more survivors declines. Since 1939, this earthquake has killed more people in Turkey than any other. To prevent robbery by looters, business owners in Antakya, one of the disaster's hardest-hit cities, cleaned up their businesses on Sunday.

Residents and aid workers from nearby cities have observed reports of deteriorating security circumstances, along with several allegations of looting at collapsed homes and businesses.
