Digital Desk: When the world is already witnessing the threat of the third wave of the coronavirus, researchers in Cyprus have found a new Covid-19 variant known as 'Deltacron.'
Researchers in Cyprus have discovered a new strain that incorporates features of both concern variants. Scientists named it 'deltacron.' This new variant is the latest in a series of 'hybrids' witnessed in different nations.
According to information quoting Leondios Kostrikis, a lecturer with the University of Cyprus who guides the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Molecular Virology, around 25 cases have been determined with omicron and delta co-infection.

According to the team, the commonness of the mixed infection is higher among patients hospitalized due to COVID-19.
The researchers further explained that it stays ambiguous whether this combined virus is more infectious or has more potential to prevail over its earlier prototypes.
Previously, reports have stated that a mixed virus infection (some have termed it 'delmicron') suggested its signs were identical to those displayed by the two individual variants. Yet, it must be mentioned that such strains have not previously received official acknowledgment from the World Health Organisation and equivalent global bodies.
