'Friends' star Matthew Perry dies at 54: Reports
According to TMZ, Perry was found dead at a house in the Los Angeles area on Saturday.

Digital Desk: Celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Chandler Bing on the cherished sitcom "Friends," actor Matthew Perry passed away at the age of 54. The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Perry, whose demise was confirmed by law enforcement officials and reported by TMZ.

According to TMZ, Perry was found dead at a house in the Los Angeles area on Saturday. No drugs were found at the scene, and the actor was discovered in a jacuzzi at the location. It is believed that Perry may have drowned.

In response to the incident, a Los Angeles Police Department representative told PEOPLE that officers were called about a gentleman in his 50s dying, and they sent officers to Perry's home. The police at the time, however, did not confirm the deceased's identification.

Furthermore, according to TMZ, no signs of foul play were found about Perry's demise. First responders were called to the home for what looked to be a cardiac arrest, according to their sources.

Matthew Perry was born on August 19, 1969, in the beautiful city of Williamstown, Massachusetts. However, his life has also been filled with hardships.

Perry travelled to Los Angeles as a teenager to fulfill his ambitions. In 1987 and 1988, he returned as Chazz Russell on "Boys Will Be Boys" after landing a few television guest roles. His big break came in 1994 when he joined the cast of NBC's award-winning sitcom, Friends, following stints on the television series Growing Pains and Sydney.

Perry battled personal issues, including addiction, amid his remarkable career successes. In 1997 and 2001, he went back to therapy for abuse of substances. In 2016, Perry stated in an open interview with Britain's BBC Radio 2 that he could not remember filming seasons 3 through 6 of 'Friends'.

The actor admitted a past of alcoholism and addiction of Vicodin, which was prescribed after a 1997 jet ski accident, in a 2013 PEOPLE cover story. Perry said, "I had a serious drug and alcohol addiction that I was unable to kick. When things finally became terrible enough for me to stop hiding, everyone found out."

However, something "clicked" inside of him." In his previous Malibu beach house, he turned a new page in his own life story by founding Perry House, a men's sober living facility.
