The statement read, "Reports suggested the incident occurred on March 17, 2022, when Md Shafiullah (reportedly the owner of the plot adjacent to Wari Radhakanta ISKCON temple) is alleged to have made an attempt to take possession of the land following the court's verdict. However, he was met with resistance by a group of 15-20 persons (including Rupanug Gaur Das, the Principal of Iskcon temple)."

"It has been learnt that ISKCON members had filed proceedings against Md. Shafiullah under section 145 of the CRPC in 2016, 2017 and 2021. Dismissing the case, the Court had issued an order allowing Shafiullah to take possession (ownership) of the land. He claimed that he possesses the legal documentation and the original deed of the land," it read further.

The Bangladesh government acknowledged that law enforcement officials are in contact with both parties and are attempting to reach an agreement.

"In this case, an investigation is underway. Those who are found guilty, regardless of their religion, would face severe punishment." "the government added
