Digital Desk: India has raised the issue of Khalistanis desecrating Gandhi's statue with the United States .This came after a mob attempted to desecrate the statue as a protest on India's Republic Day.
In response to questions at the weekly presser, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "There was also an attempt to desecrate the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in
Washington DC. We have taken up all these unfortunate incidents with the host governments and conveyed our concerns".
"We have requested a thorough investigation, action against all those involved, and prevention of similar incidents in the future," he added.

Extremist elements have previously attempted to desecrate Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the United States.
This has happened not only in Washington, but also in Milan, where Khalistani militants had set up their flag in front of the Indian consulate.
Khalistanis have been active in a number of European countries, including Italy and the United Kingdom, where similar operations have been observed in the past.
The MEA spokesman highlighted that India attaches "utmost priority to the security of our diplomats abroad and the premises in which they work and live in" and "work closely with local authorities and host governments to ensure that adequate security is provided".
As these protestors have been spotted chanting pro-Pakistan slogans, several of these Khalistani elements have received backing from Pakistan.
Khalistani protestors were observed screaming pro-Pakistan slogans during Prime Minister Modi's visit to the United States last year.
Surprisingly, Pro Khalistani anonymous Twitter identities have quickly released footage of acts of destruction and vandalism in front of Indian missions, indicating a strong social media presence.
Khalistanis desecrating Gandhi's statue stirred a nationwide reaction in India as well.
