Guwahati: Every year, August 9 is recognized as International Day of the World's Indigenous people. This day is commemorated worldwide to value the inaugural panel of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations at the UN in 1982.

This date is considered for the participation and success of indigenous people. They have held a large heterogeneity of different customs, cultures, linguistic forms, and learning methods.

The Commission on Human Rights approved establishing the Permanent UN Forum on Indigenous Issues. This forum was set up to look into what the Economic and Social Council presented in April 2000. 

The panel centered and addressed the problems associated to culture, education, financial and social growth, etc., among different regions. The plan was essential to stimulate global service for resolving difficulties encountered by the global indigenous community.

The Covid 19 pandemic has brought differences, disproportionality influencing communities all around the world. 

International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is celebrated to raise consciousness to protect the indigenous communities' rights. As human activities destroy the ecosystem, these people's resistance, integrity, and independence are in crisis.

The theme for 2021 International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is "Leaving no one behind: Indigenous peoples and the call for a new social contract." 

The 'social contract' commits to an unrecorded contract that organizations support for cultural and financial advantages. In several nations, indigenous people were marginalized from administrative and financial schemes and never involved in social conventions.
