International Youth Day 2023: History, theme and significance, all you need to know

Digital Desk: Every year 12 August is marked as the annual celebration of International Youth Day. The United Nations (UN) has recognized August 12 as a day of awareness. After the UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution supporting the suggestion made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in Lisbon, the first Youth Day was celebrated in 1999.

Every year on August 12, people around the world celebrate International Youth Day to bring attention to various issues affecting young people.

The United Nations General Assembly started making a concentrated attempt to have an impact on young people in 1965. They supported the Declaration on Promoting the Ideals of Peace, Mutual Respect, and Inter-Peace among Youth.
