Digital Desk: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) continued its offensive in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, claiming to have successfully targeted and killed a senior Hamas commander, Ibrahim Biari. The IDF stated that Biari was responsible for orchestrating the terrorist attack that occurred on October 7. This development comes amid escalating tensions in the region.
In a social media announcement, the IDF revealed that its fighter jets carried out the operation that resulted in the elimination of Ibrahim Biari, who was the commander of Hamas's Central Jabaliya Battalion. The IDF emphasized that this strike not only eliminated Biari but also damaged Hamas's command and control infrastructure in the area and neutralized a significant number of terrorists who were present alongside Biari. Furthermore, the IDF reported that an underground terrorist infrastructure was disrupted following the attack.
IDF spokesperson Lt. Colonel Richard Hecht had previously stated that the mission aimed to target "a very senior Hamas commander" in the vicinity of the Jabalya refugee camp, according to a CNN report.
The IDF's statement read, "A short while ago, IDF fighter jets, acting on ISA intelligence, killed Ibrahim Biari, the Commander of Hamas’ Central Jabaliya Battalion. Biari was one of the leaders responsible for sending 'Nukbha' terrorist operatives to Israel to carry out the murderous terror attack on October 7th. Numerous Hamas terrorists were hit in the strike."

Ibrahim Biari was responsible for overseeing all military operations in the northern Gaza Strip since the onset of the Israeli ground operation and had a history of involvement in multiple attacks on Israel dating back decades. The IDF disclosed that it had executed a comprehensive strike targeting terrorists and their associated infrastructure belonging to the Central Jabalya Battalion.
The IDF's operation reportedly disrupted Hamas's ability to direct military activity against IDF soldiers in Gaza and resulted in a "large number of terrorists" being killed. The strike also caused the collapse of underground facilities utilized by Hamas.
During this operation, the IDF confirmed that its troops had been operating in a Hamas stronghold in Jabaliya, northern Gaza. The stronghold was identified as a site for training and executing terrorist activities. Approximately 50 terrorists were neutralized during the ground operation, and entrances to terrorist tunnels and weapons storage areas were destroyed.
Tragically, at least 50 people were reported killed in the strike and the subsequent collapse of underground facilities, according to Palestinian reports as cited by The Times of Israel. In response to the ongoing hostilities, the IDF reiterated its call for residents in the area to move south to ensure their safety.
Despite the intensified IDF operations in the region, there have been reports of rocket attacks targeting Tel Aviv and central Israel. These attacks serve as a reminder of the precarious security situation in the area.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israel Defence Forces, commented on the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip, stating that the fighting is becoming "more complex" as Israeli soldiers operate deeper into the region. This observation underscores the escalating nature of the conflict, and the situation remains fluid and highly volatile.
The ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip has raised concerns internationally, and efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region continue to be a top priority for the global community.
