Digital Desk: On Monday, US President Joe Biden landed himself in trouble after being caught on camera calling a journalist a “stupid son of a b****” in response to the latter’s question about inflation.
However, soon after the incident, Joe Biden called the journalist and apologized for the act, saying it wasn’t “personal, pal.”
Reportedly, the incident occurred on Monday evening at the White House event, when Peter Doocy of Fox News attempted to ask the President if inflation was a political liability for him.
“No, it’s a great asset - more inflation. What a stupid son of a bitch.” Biden replied, unaware that the microphone was being on.
Claiming that the US President apologized to him within an hour of the incident, Doocy said, “He called in my cell phone and said that It’s nothing personal, mate.”
Doocy added that the two then “went back and forth” and talked about “moving forward” after their telephonic call.
“I made sure to tell him (Biden) that I’m always going to try to ask something different than what everyone else is asking.” Doocy said.
Further, Doocy said he expressed gratitude to Biden for reaching out to him. The journalist stated that he doesn’t need “anybody to apologize” to him.
“As long as it keeps him talking, he can call me whatever he wants,” Doocy remarked.
This isn’t the first time Biden has chastised a reporter for asking a question. Last week, Biden reportedly slammed another Fox News reporter, a woman, after she questioned why he is waiting for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to make the “first move.”
“What a ridiculous question,” Biden responded.
Tensions between Russia and the United States have been high in recent weeks, following Biden’s statement last week that Putin would attack Ukraine. As a result, the US State Department issued an advisory on Sunday night asking family members of its diplomats and citizens to leave Ukraine, citing the ‘increased threat of Russian military action.’
