Pak PM informs Pakistan's National Assembly to be dissolved on this date; Deets inside
The five-year term of Parliament ends on August 12, and the ruling coalition administration is preparing for an election...

Digital Desk: The National Assembly will be dissolved on August 9, three days before the lower chamber of Parliament's term ends, stated Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This will trigger general elections in the nation 90 days later.

The Dawn Daily claimed on Friday that Sharif made this statement on Thursday during a dinner reception held at the Prime Minister's House in honour of the ruling coalition. On August 12, when the current coalition government's five-year tenure in office ends, elections will be held.

According to the Constitution, elections must be held within 60 days of the National Assembly's term ending, but if it dissolves too soon, the time frame is extended to 90 days.

According to The Express Tribune newspaper, the prime minister will notify President Arif Alvi of the National Assembly's dissolution on August 9.

The assembly will be dissolved in accordance with the Constitution as soon as the president signs the notification.

The report said that the assembly would be automatically dissolved 48 hours after receiving the prime minister's notification if the president did not sign the recommendation for any explanation.

On Friday, there will also likely be an online meeting with allies to discuss the caretaker setup.

Reportedly,  this topic was also the subject of a lengthy meeting between the foreign minister and the prime minister on Thursday, citing the source.

Sadiq Sanjrani, the chair of the Senate, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the speaker of the National Assembly, Yousuf Raza Gilani, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), all attended the event.

Asad Mehmood, the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F), Khalid Magsi, Senator Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), Shahzain Bugti, Aslam Bhootani, and Mohsin Dawar were among those who attended the event, according to the report.
