Pakistan Ex-Foreign Minister and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrested

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, vice chairman of the PTI, has once more been illegally arrested according to a social media post on the party's page.

Digital Desk: Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former foreign minister, was detained on Saturday. Islamabad police detained Qureshi.

Qureshi was detained by the Federal Probe Agency (FIA) at his apartment in Islamabad as part of the continuing probe into cypher, which according to PTI contained a threat by the United States to depose Imran Khan, according to sources cited by Geo News.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, made a claim last year after being removed from office that is related to the cypher problem. Khan attacked his opponents by alleging that he was fired as part of a "US conspiracy" and using a diplomatic letter.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, vice chairman of the PTI, has once more been illegally arrested according to a social media post on the party's page.

He was allegedly brought into custody by a sizable police force, according to the party.

Omar Ayub Khan, the general secretary of Imran Khan's party, also announced Qureshi's detention on X (formerly Twitter). Qureshi was detained, according to Ayub, after he returned home from a press conference.

"Vice Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureishi sahib arrested from his house in Islamabad 25 minutes ago. He had just reached home after doing a Press Conference," Omar said.

"Condemn this in the harshest terms possible. I had anticipated that the fascist PDM Government's departure would put an end to the reign of lawlessness, but it appears that this caretaker government intends to surpass the accomplishments of their forerunner, the fascist government," he added.

After Imran Khan was detained and given a three-year prison sentence in the Toshakhana case, Qureshi was arrested a few days later.

Following the court's decision, Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was apprehended at his Lahore home by Islamabad police working in conjunction with the Punjab police. From Lahore, he has been sent to Islamabad.
