Digital Desk: Six militants launched an attack on an air force training base in the central Pakistani area of Mianwali, Punjab, on Saturday morning, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Reportedly, vigilant security forces thwarted the attempt, killing three militants before they could breach the base's defenses. The remaining three attackers were cornered and are currently under siege.
The assault resulted in significant damage, with three aircraft and a fuelling tanker being destroyed, emphasizing the severity of the threat. Tehreek-e Jihad (TTP), a Pakistan-based terror group, claimed responsibility for the attack, as confirmed by Pakistani military authorities. In response, a military operation is currently in progress to eliminate the remaining militants and secure the area.
This incident follows a series of recent attacks in Pakistan, including two separate assaults on security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the Tirah area of Khyber District, an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) led to a fierce firefight, resulting in one terrorist killed and two injured and subsequently apprehended. Meanwhile, in the Sarwekai area of the South Waziristan District, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion tragically claimed the lives of two brave soldiers, Sepoy Banaras Khan, while they were in the line of duty.
