Meanwhile, Member of Ukraine’s Parliament, Inna Sovsun, claimed that Russian forces killed journalist Brent Renaud.
Digital Desk: Filmmaker and journalist from the United States were shot dead in Ukraine’s Irpin city on Sunday (March 13), according to the news agency AFP.
Head of the Kyiv Oblast police Andriy Nebytov claimed that journalist Brent Renaud was shot dead in Irpin and also two other journalists were injured and hospitalized.
Reportedly, Brent Renaud was a New York Times contributor. However, in a statement, the New York Times said that he was not on the publication’s assignment in Ukraine.
“We were shocked to learn of Brent Renaud’s death. Brent was a talented filmmaker who had previously been employed in The New York Times. Though he had previously contributed to The Times (most recently in 2015), he was not assigned to any desk at The Times in Ukraine. Early reports that he worked for the Times circulated because he was wearing a Times press badge issued for a long-ago assignment,” New York Times statement read.
