Digital Desk: The Russian President is most likely to go into isolation in a bunker since rumours of a significant flu outbreak have affected Kremlin staff, according to The Mirror on December 14.
There have been rumours that Vladimir Putin's presidential staff may have been infected with the serious virus, citing the Russian president's health and security worries.
Putin has already cancelled his yearly set-piece press conference this month, a first in ten years. Putin's speech to parliament is still possible this month, but the unprecedented unprompted Kremlin assertion that some of his close associates are sick with the flu may force it to be postponed.
According to the news agency Novaya Gazeta Europe, which cited Dmitry Peskov as the source for the virus announcement, "several people in the Kremlin were down with flu."

"The already onerous security measures of Vladimir Putin himself have significantly increased, despite the president's directive to tighten security at critical institutions. Putin has started to spend more time in locations resembling bunkers. And as opposed to the mansion in Sochi as originally planned, the president and his loved ones would [enjoy] the New Year in a bunker hidden behind the Ural Mountains," the report stated.
