Three Child Policy: China allows couples to have triple child including government exemption

Beijing: China, to increase its birth rate in the country, has announced several supportive measures, including subsidizing pregnancy and childbirth expenses and tax exemptions for couples to have a third child.

As per the report of China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, the Chinese government took the decision to stop the rapid decrease in the birth rate in the world’s most populous country.

To solve the deepening democratic cries in the country, China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) had formally approved the three-child policy in August. The NPC passed an amended Population and Family Planning Act that allows Chinese couples to have three children.

Since the act was passed in August, more than 20 provincial-level regions in China have amended their local birth rules.

Reportedly, the measures were taken to address the problem of Chinese couples not being interested in having more children due to the cost of raising a child.

According to Xinhua news agency, several supportive measures have been announced, including the grant of paternity leave, an extension of maternity leave and leave for marriage.

National Health Commission Official Yang Wenzhong said, “The government should take the lead in sharing the cost of pregnancy and childbirth.”

In 2016, China repealed the decades-old one-child policy, allowing all couples to have two children. China was allowed to have three children after the census showed that the growth rate of China’s population was slow.
